MORETON ISLAND MENUS

LUXURY OVERNIGHT CHARTERS

World heritage listed Moreton Island and surrounding Marine Park makes an ideal place for any event. Day charters to Tangalooma are very popular as companies return up to 3 times a year for this day on the water.

This unique island wilderness is one of the largest sand islands in the world, is 98% national park and supports the largest coastal sand dunes in the world which provide entertainment as guests try to conquer a sand toboggan ride down the steep sandy slopes. Beautiful clean, crystal clear waters surround 168sqkm of island beauty and uninterrupted white sandy beaches.

We depart from the Royal Queensland Yacht Squadron at Manly and experience a 60 minute cruise at a comfortable 20 knots across beautiful Moreton Bay to the famous Tangalooma ship wrecks to anchor for the day.

Gourmet canapés and beverages are served onboard as we make our way through the Marine Park to Moreton Island taking in the sights of surrounding islands and marine life. Dolphins, Turtles, Rays, Dugongs and Humpback Whales when in migrating season (June to October), have all been sighted on cruises to Moreton Island .

Once at Tangalooma we anchor only meters from the beach and comfortable swimming/snorkelling distance to the shipwrecks. You may explore the islands beauty and take a scenic walk of about 500m to the top the largest coastal sand dunes in the world to get a birds eye view of the Tangalooma wrecks and Moreton Bay or take a relaxing walk down to the resort and remains of the original whaling station.

The Tangalooma wrecks is home to the mother ship of the whale chasers Kos I and Kos II and the original barges and dredges that dredged the main shipping channel from Caloundra through Moreton Bay to the Brisbane River. The Tangalooma resort was the site of original whaling station from 1953 - 1962.

Water sports available on the day can include snorkelling, scuba diving, banana boat rides and para sailing. It is essential to book these activities when booking the vessel.

Your gourmet lunch consists of a large fresh seafood buffet of Ocean King/Tiger Prawns, Freshly shucked Oysters, Moreton Bay bugs, Sandcrabs, Mudcrabs (when in season), New Zealand marinated mussels and your choice from a selection of hot and cold dishes, fresh salads, gourmet breads, deserts, fruit and cheese platters. We cater for any dietary requirement and/or preferences.

We can take a maximum of 48 guests and customise packages for every group booking.

Should the weather turn unfavourable and Tangalooma is no longer a pleasurable option for the day, the captain may recommend alternative options suitable for the weather on the day such as Peel Island 's Horseshoe Bay or even the Brisbane River if the date cannot be altered. This is a very rare event.

An alternative departure point of Newstead Park is available for guests requiring something closer to the CBD. Please keep in mind it takes an extra 45 min in travel each way.

Redcliffe jetty and even Bongaree jetty on Bribie Island can be suitable pick up points for guests on the North side.
